tarpoley, a picturesque town with surprisingly bad traffic. the town used to be an urban area but back in 1936 is was redesignated as part of a rural district. today you can only reach the town by driving, the bus stopped service here back in 1966 and while the rail line is still in use the station is no longer in operation. nearby attractions if you are looking for some nearby things to do in tarpoley then you want to try out the blakemere craft center . here you will find lots of craft shops to do some shopping for local arts and crafts. there are also workshops where you can learn to do crafts on your own. you will find most of these shops in blakmere’s hall, it was once a stable and now it has been beautifully restored to a craft center. here you will also find a bunch of other things to do, including a restaurant, falconry center, coffee shop and aquatic center. another great attraction that you need to check out is beeston castle . if you love ancient castles this place is pretty cool. you have some incredible views of the countryside from here. head to the highest point with your camera and take some beautiful pictures of the english countryside. here is a view of the castle. fun things to do if you are traveling with kids and want to keep them entertained then the ice cream farm is the place to go. most of the nearby restaurants, hotels and shops in the area get their ice cream from here. you can bring the kids into a tasting kitchen where they can try some new flavors, you can grab a pint or two of ice cream from here and take it home to enjoy. for the fans of history you can check out the beautiful historic house, peckforton castle. originally built by lord tollemache back in 1850 it is a beautiful example of a medieval castle that is open for tours by the public. you can even book the castle for parties and events. fun fact, the castle was part of the set of one of the robin hood movies. nearby there is also bunbury watermill, a restored corn mill that still grinds its own flour. if you prefer the beauty of nature to the majesty of history then you will enjoy the cholmoneley castle gardens. here you can tour the gardens, the lake and stop for everything a small english town should be and it is just a short ten minute drive to chester. with one main street running through the center of town, that is where you will find the local small businesses. if you walk down the high street you will find quaint little shops and charming restaurants. if you want spend the afternoon in the english countryside and you’re coming from chester jump on the a41 and in a little bit you will reach the second roundabout and you need to take the second exit. now that you’re here, here is . the quintessential english pub you will find no shortage of pubs up and down the main drag in tarpoley. spending the afternoon in a pub is a great way to meet the locals and enjoy the local hospitality. two particular pubs on the high street, the rising sun and the swan are both incredibly charming the you will have some excellent food combined with a warm friendly atmosphere you would expect in a rural english pub. you can get a complete meal for around 10 pounds but if you want to treat yourself and get the steak then expect to pay a little bit more. the rising sun gives you the opportunity to book a private restaurant for private functions or if there is a group of you traveling through tarpoley. the swan, as well can accommodate a larger group in a private room but it is not quite as large as the rising sun. when it comes to holidays or special occasions like new year’s eve, you will find a younger crowd at the swan . most are there getting a few drinks in before they head off to some bigger parties in chester. there are some who do hang around. if you want a quick take away then there is one indian restaurant in town, despite being the only one the food there is quite excellent. shopping and lunch there is a one stop in town where you can grab milk or bread. if you want to do some more shopping then most people will head into chester for more variety in shopping. if you want to grab some lunch after shopping there are a handful of cafes or if you want something a little more upscale then head to one of the wine bars in town. you won’t have to stroll very far down main street to find somewhere great to eat. the community tarpoley high school can be found just off the main rod and students have one main block a field behind the school that has a tennis court along with 3 cricket pitches. if you come here in the summer there is a carnival in july put on by the rotary club, the round table and the local business community. tarpoley is a clise knit community that is a joy to visit. get more stuff subscribe
